COMMISSIONS AND COSTS

David is willing to take commissions, particularly for portraiture. David does his portraits from photographs rather than sittings, as they take around 20 hours to produce. The best portraits come from the best photographs, and recently David has linked up with talented photographer Robert Malone to produce a fantastic package deal of professional photoshoot, photographic prints PLUS 80cm x 56 cm pastel portrait based on the selected photograph.

Portraits cost £850. The breakdown of costs include

£250 for photoshoot with Robert Malone (2-3 hours on location, professional lighting etc.)
£50 materials (Boards, pastels, etc)
£200 Frame (Framing professionally done in Art and Home Holywood)
Balance £350 is my fee for doing the painting.

HOW TO SECURE A COMMISSION

£250 non refundable deposit secures a commission, this can be paid to Robert at the time he takes the photographs to paint. If you have a suitable photograph already then this may also be used, and a £200 deposit for commission paid to David. Any photo to be used needs to be beautifully lit and very high resolution.

Select images for keeping as photos and select one for painting. Deposit £150 to proceed
David does the painting, and contacts you when it is complete.

Before framing there is an opportunity to see the painting and make any minor adjustments required. Second payment of £200 when satisfied with painting. Balance £200 paid on delivery of completed framed work. (Framing costs are £200 and included in this price - if you want to frame yourself this can be negotiated, but very specialist framing needed for pastel paintings)

David is usually not keen to incorporate multiple figures in portraiture but this can be discussed and additional costs will be incurred.

Commissions for landcapes or still life also considered, but cost will depend on complexity of project, typically around £600.
